Isn't CBD Oil just Another Form of "Snake Oil"?

It’s amazing how many people have been deeply conditioned to believe that all things hemp are illegal and/or bad for you. Our government, for years, stood by the premise that hemp products are not helpful for us and they’re not legal. When this set of laws got a “comeuppance” with the last Farm Bill, we saw a steady rise in acceptance of Hemp Extract and related products. Mainly it’s due to the very clear understanding of many that CBD does HELP.

It’s a good thing to do some basic research and learn that CBD is being studied as a potential “official” treatment for maladies as diverse as schizophrenia, insomnia and cancer. We’ve heard reports of people with conditions such as autism, PTSD, overall anxiety and others are ALSO successful with the use of CBD and Hemp Oil.

We love highlighting one study associated with PTSD coordinated by Dr. Esther Blessing, an assistant professor at the New York University School of Medicine. She’s coordinated a study of CBD as an effective treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and other related illnesses.

One aspect of CBD that has been underscored in a number of studies is that it’s not easy to find the “overdose” point with CBD. A general result from taking too much CBD has been general malaise or short term GI distress. But this is typically found only with extreme dosing (greater than 3000mg at a dose for example).

As a handy resource for you and your friends, please consider sharing the handy database for the National Institutes of Health database. With this database, you can find more than 150 of studies involving CBD as a treatment for many different health situations.

You’ll be pleased to learn that even our government has proven that CBD and Hemp Oil are effective in helping eliminate discomfort for so many people. Use the recent approval of Epidiolex by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as an oral solution for the treatment of seizures associated with two rare and severe forms of epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome, in patients two years of age and older. This is the first FDA-approved drug that contains a purified drug substance derived from marijuana. It is also the first FDA approval of a drug for the treatment of patients with Dravet syndrome.

Plus, if you’re worried about addiction and related problems, Administration of a therapeutic dose of CBD (750 mg) showed significantly low abuse potential in a highly sensitive population of polydrug users. So far, other studies show little to no addiction among Cannabidiol users.

Will CBD Help with Anxiety?

It’s acknowledged that Speaking In Public is one of the most common fears behind death and dying. If you were asked to go to the front of an auditorium and present information about a product or service your company is offering, you’d likely feel a wave of nervousness.

This is very common.

You may find that CBD does work and has been shown to help reduce anxiety. This could hold true for things such as:

  • Test Anxiety
  • Deal Negotiations
  • Public Speaking
  • Agoraphobia

As researchers continue their journey to determine the benefits and the drawbacks of compounds such as CBD, we will continue to report on it.
